Unique German-sung black metal. Lo-fi grating guitars, mid-paced rhythms and choked shrieking exchanged with beautiful acoustic passages and dramatic choral-line folk singing reminiscent of old Menhir. Hard to decide whether Hagal should be more produced en route to a proper release, or retain an intangible eeriness captured herein. 8/10 points
